About the Author

Theresa MacInnis Schimmel is a full -time author of both children and adult literature. As a career classroom teacher and educational consultant, she has seen the power of literature in guiding children to understand themselves, their emotions, and relationships with others.

When not working on her next book, she is busy writing stories, essays, and poems, many of which have been published. Her short story Vigil by the Window won first place in New England Writer's Magazine. Her memoir story The Christmas Miracle won first place in a writing competition in The Providence Journal. Her poem I Know His Name, and short stories, Waking Up, Worlds Apart, and It's Not Easy Being Green have been published in ARIA's short story anthologies.  Writer's Digest annual writing competition awarded Honorable Mention to the story It's Not Easy Being Green.

She is the mother of two adult sons, and grandmother of three. She is an active supporter of peacemaking endeavors.  She lives in Rhode Island with her husband Steve.
